Critic: Numerical discrepancies in the Qur’an:

Does Allah’s day equal to 1,000 (Sura 22:47, 32:5) or 50,000 years (Sura 70:4)?

Observe how similar 32:5 and 70:4 are worded (in English – I don’t know the Arabic) “ascend unto him in a day the measure whereof is [fifty] thousand years [of your reckoning].”

Maybe it originally was “fifty thousand” in both and “fifty” dropped out in one place? A corrupted manuscript? Or does God just not know how to relate the length of his days to human years?

We all learn in grade school that the planets move at differing rates around the sun. While earth takes 365 days to make one circuit, the closest planet, Mercury, takes only 88 days. Poor, ponderous, and distant Pluto takes a whopping 248 years for one revolution. Below is a table with the rotation rates and revolution rates of all the planets.

{As we know that there are millions & billions of Sun’s & Planets in our Universe. So, there may be planets which revolve round ‘their’ Sun in 7 days that is 50 times faster than the revolution of our planet Earth}.

{If we Carefully observe 22:47 & 32:05 with 70:04 then we will know that Allah has told in 22:47 & 32:05 that ‘is like a thousand years of those which you count’ but in 70:04 is only ‘is fifty thousand years’ & ‘which you count’ is Not mentioned. Secondly, the day of the judgment is not on the earth but is in another planet which only Allah knows, which may revolve 50 times faster than our Earth’s revolution. [So, it happened after the formation of the heaven]. So, in Surah / Chapter 7:54 Allah has not mentioned the days as, ‘those which you count’ (that is Earthly days) as mentioned in 22:47 & 32:05 So the day can be very long as ‘periods’ on the Earth. [Example: Venus takes 243 days for its one rotation. That is one day of Venus is equal 243 days of Earth & so 243 days of the earth can be taken as a period / eon in the Earth & So one heavenly day or a day in other planets of other solar systems can be much more, which is nothing but a period / eon in the earth.

Critic: He creates instantaneously [2:117], “Be! And it is”.

Critic: Why was Iblis cast out from God’s presence for disobeying a command directed to angels, not to the jinn?

Surah / Chapter 2:34

And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam”; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers. (Surah 2:34)

One should use his common sense to understand. From the statement (Surah 2:34) one should understand that Allah had told even the Iblis to prostrate, which is Not mentioned, otherwise when Iblis did not bow & Allah told the Iblis that you did not bow & were arrogant, Iblis could have told Allah, that you commanded to prostrate only to the angles & not to me. But the command was given even to Iblees. Iblees did not bow as he thought that, since he was made of fire & Adam was made of mud & since fire is superior than mud, then why should I bow before Adam & was arrogant.

Further according to following surah iblees is a jinn: And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam,” and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange. (18:50)

Critic: Actually, the contradiction still remains since the Quran narrates the story of two angels who fell into sin:

And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Hārūt and Mārūt. But they [i.e., the two angels] do not teach anyone unless they say, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic].”1 And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allāh. And they [i.e., people] learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But they [i.e., the Children of Israel] certainly knew that whoever purchased it [i.e., magic] would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew. — Saheeh International

So, the two angels did NOT fall into sin. It is clear from the above verse 2:102 that the Angles said that they [i.e., the two angels] do not teach anyone unless they said, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic].” So, it was Allah who had sent those Angles as a trial to mankind & Jinn.

Critic: What is the punishment for adultery? Flogging with 100 stripes (men and women) [24:2], “confine them to houses until death do claim them (lifelong house arrest – for the women) [4:15]. And why is the punishment for women and men equal in Sura 24 but different in Sura 4?

Note: Meaning of Immorality is, Homosexuality or unlawful Sexual intercourse, according to Quran & below translations. The one taken in 4:15 for Immorality, is for unlawful Sexual intercourse & so accordingly the punishment was more & in 4:16 Immorality, is for Sex between Homosexuals & so accordingly the punishment is much less.

V 4:15 Those who commit ‘ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ ‘ = ‘immorality’ [i.e., unlawful sexual intercourse] of your women – bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify,1 confine them [i.e., the guilty women] to houses until death takes them or Allāh ordains for them [another] way.2

Ibn `Abbas and Sa`id bin Jubayr said that this punishment includes cursing, shaming them and beating them with sandals. Mujahid said, “It was revealed about the case of two men who do it.” he was referring to the actions of the people of Lut {that is Sex between Homosexuals}, and Allah knows best. The collectors of Sunan recorded that Ibn `Abbas said that the Messenger of Allah said,

(Whoever you catch committing the act of the people of Lut (homosexuality), then kill both parties to the act.) Allah said,

(And if they repent and do righteous good deeds), by refraining from that evil act, and thereafter their actions become righteous,
(leave them alone), do not verbally abuse them after that, since he who truly repents is just like he who has no sin,

(Surely, Allah is Ever the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.)

Now

V 24:2 The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allâh, if you believe in Allâh and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime, but if married persons commit it (illegal sex), the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allâh’s Law).1

Critic: Apart from the question whether the punishment should be as in 24:2 or 4:15, how come the man and woman are treated equal in 24:2, but seemingly different in 4:15?

Allah knows what all is going on within the people & so knows When to reveal & What to reveal.

In V 4:15 Allah must have revealed the punishment for the females to control, First the Female Prostitution / illegal Sexual intercourse by females with males {by both married / unmarried females with married / unmarried males}, at that time. So, the punishment was, to confine them (i.e. women) to houses until death comes to them or Allāh ordains for them [another] way. And later on, was Abrogated in 24:2 by bringing the ruling of the punishment for both males & females who are unmarried, to flogging each of them with a hundred stripes & through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) [Hadith] to exile them for one year & about punishment for males & females who are married, to stone them to death.

Allah ordained that mankind should be divided into two camps, e.g. believers and unbelievers, the saved versus the unsaved, and has chosen beforehand to guide and forgive whom he wills

7:178. Whomsoever Allâh guides, he is the guided one, and whomsoever He sends astray,- then those! they are the losers. — Al-Hilali & Khan

7:179. And surely, We have created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts wherewith they understand not, and they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not (the truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray; those! One of the names of Allah is ‘Al Adl’ meaning ‘The Just’. And He is!

Firstly, Critic Selectively choses the mistaken Translations in places where ever necessary, so as to confuse people.

Secondly Critic has Deliberately shown Wrong Explanations of 91:7 & 8 & written False Hadith. These are two mentioned below are out of Many Verses & Hadiths where he has Deliberately shown Wrong Explanations & written False Hadiths to confuse people.

And For:

By a Soul and Him who balanced it, And BREATHED INTO IT ITS WICKEDNESS and its piety, S. 91:8 Rodwell

Verily Allah has fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in, and which he OF NECESSITY MUST COMMIT (or there would be no escape from it). (Sahih Muslim, Book 033, Number 6421; see also Number 6422)

31. He will admit to His Mercy whom He wills and as for the Zâlimûn – (polytheists, wrong-doers) He has prepared a painful torment. — Al-Hilali & Khan

& 81:27-29

So, First of all Allah has Answered the above verses 16:93, 76:30, 81:29 as to whom He send Astray in 2:26

& what Allah Means here {in the above verses 16:93, 76:30, 81:29} & in other Similar Verses or Hadiths of this type is: In Allah’s control is the ‘Main Switch’ {‘of Showing Man the Right path’}, Only if He puts it On, you WOULD BE ABLE TO ‘On the light using the Lower switch’{‘use your thought & take the Right path’} & Allah puts the Main Switch On, to everyone & if He puts it Off you CANNOT ‘On the Light using the Lower switch’ {‘use your thought & take the Right path’} & He puts it Off only to the people who are Least Bothered / Lazy /Arrogant / Rebellious / Disobedient & these type, after giving them CHANCES.

It is because Allah does Not want the Man to Think / Boast that it was due to his ability that he chose the True Religion & did Righteous Deeds but He wants man to be Humble before Him.

From the below Verse 41:53, Allah is also helping man by Showing His Signs for man to believe in the Quran

41: 53. We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur’ân) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things?— Al-Hilali & Khan

Allah has given Heart & Brain for a man to think & choose between the True & False Religion & to do Righteous deeds. But Allah does not want the Man to Think / Boast that it was due to his ability that he chose the True Religion & did Righteous Deeds but He wants man to be Humble before Him. So, now it is for a Man to be Humble before Allah, Ask His Help, Think which Religion is True. Allah will Surely Guide him to the True religion & will also help man to follow it.

Conclusion: The Quran is clearly contradicting itself since in certain places it claims that those who enter the fire will abide forever, whereas other texts say that the punishment of hell is not eternal!

Reply:

Allah knows when to tell what. If Allah has told in some places that people of the hell will remain there eternally & in some places as till Allah wishes. We know that Allah is merciful, So He may stop the punishment for the people of the hell after a time, but even a punishment for a time will be very very painful. So, one should see that they choose the right religion & follow it.

Secondly, If Allah has told in some places that people of the paradise will remain there eternally & in some places as till Allah wishes. We know that Allah is merciful. So even if He keeps the people in the heaven if not eternally but for a time, the people will be so much happy & satisfied that if they are asked, if there is an end to them, is it ok, then they will surely say ok.

So, it is NOT a contradiction at all.

Critic: Sura 3:144 states that all messengers died before Muhammad. But 4:158 claims that Jesus was raised to God (alive?).

The correct translation of 4:157 from Arabic to English is ‘IT WAS ONLY MADE TO APPEAR SO, TO THEM’ & in Addition to that SHEIKH AHMED DEEDAT also explains the same in detail from the Bible itself, that as ‘since it was getting late (and as Saturday was approaching, that is Sabbath day where they were not supposed to kill/crucify anybody & so they brought Jesus down thinking he is dead. Mary Mackdaline went to Jesus where he was put, to anoint him. That is to massage his wounds’. NOTE: DO CHRISTIANS OR JEWS ANOINT THE DEAD. ANSWER IS NO. 3:144 Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? The Crucifixion of Christ – A Christian Critique of the Quran

The crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of the Christian faith. Everything a Christian believes in and hopes for revolves around Jesus’ death on the cross for unworthy sinners. The resurrection is the divine vindication of the fact that Jesus did not die for any crime he had committed, but died in place of sinners needing redemption and justification before an infinitely holy and just God. If it can be proven that Jesus did not die and rise from the dead, then Christianity is nothing more than a great lie which has deceived literally billions throughout the ages. The Christian is left without hope, having no assurance of justification, and remains in his sins. (Cf. 1 Corinthians 15:12-19; Romans 4:25, 5:8-11)

If one thinks that nonliving things cannot think at all, then what one should take is that, it is common sense what has to be used, which Allah is telling us here as well as in verses of similar type is, if the nonliving things had a brain to understand then they would had definitely reacted to what was asked & would have answered according to answer what is in the Quran.

One of the reasons why Allah Sent Prophets one after another was because people Forgot / Corrupted the True & Correct Message of God. This is One of the reasons why even Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sent.

Muslims believe what is in Quran & in other Prophets such as Jesus, Moses, David, Abraham etc., But in regards to the message of the other Prophets, believe only which is in accordance to what is mentioned in the Quran. All which is not in accordance & is contradicting with what is in the Quran is considered as Corrupted.

Secondly Muslims believe & trust in the History what is mentioned in the Quran & Not that History which is contradicting with what is in the Quran & moreover all most all have also been answered by brother Saif min Suyufillah.

So, there is no need for the Muslims to think about historical compressions or other contradictions in comparison to the Bible.

Note: Christians have the habit of changing the original names of the prophets. Some to mention are Isa (Jesus), Moosa (Moses) etc., (For more details watch Lecture of Shaykh Ahmed Deedat from the below link / Video). So why Not will one Expect Changes to be made by Christians in other contents of the Bible.
